Job Description
The University of Utah invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in the area of Biomedical Engineering as part of the Utah Science, Technology and Research Economic Development Initiative (USTAR). The State of Utah is investing over $15 million per year in new funds plus additional ongoing support to recruit world-class scientists and engineers, and over $130 million one-time funds for a new Neuroscience and Biomedical Technology research building. Appointments at all academic ranks and across numerous academic departments will be considered. Successful Bioengineering candidates will have appointments in the College of Engineering Department of Bioengineering and secondary (or joint) appointments in the School of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Science, and/or participating institutes including the Huntsman Cancer Institute or the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute. Search committees will evaluate applications with strong potential for translational research in Neural Engineering, Circuits of the Brain, Molecular Therapeutics, Combination Medical Devices, Medical and Biological Imaging, Biosensors, Biomedical Nanotechnology and Personalized Medicine. Leadership in graduate education, undergraduate education and/or entrepreneurial bioengineering is desired. Successful applicants will be expected to quickly establish independently funded research programs and to contribute to the educational mission.
