About The Center for
Neural Interfaces
The Center for Neural
Interfaces (CNI) was founded in 1995 as a Utah State Center of Excellence. Its
mission is to:
- develop multichannel
interfaces to the nervous system,
- evaluate the safety and efficacy of these interfaces in
animal experimentation,
- use these devices to extend knowledge in the field of
parallel information processing by the nervous system,
- apply these devices and knowledge to problems of the
human nervous system,
- develop new therapeutic approaches to disorders of the
nervous system, and
- train students in these technologies
so they will be able to apply them in either academic or commercial
environments.
