Experiment #1: Temperature Increase with Ultrasonic Exposure

Temperature change in culture media during various ultrasound treatments was characterized by sonicating 5ml of water in the well of a six well plate measuring temperature with a thermocouple during the last second of treatment.

Experiment #2: MCF7mt Sensitive Viability with Various Ultrasonic Exposures

Of those sonication parameters tested above, only those that produced a temperature change of less than ten degree Celsius were tested for immediate effects on cell viability. Those that produced high immediate viability were then tested again at 48 hours with and without paclitaxel being present in the culture media during sonication.

Other research currently being conducted:  In vivo mouse study of the efficacy of a commercial formulation of paclitaxel and our lab's micellular formulation of paclitaxel in the presence of ultrasound treatments and bio-distribution studies of those treated mice.
