Open Positions

Undergraduate Student Opportunities
The Microbicide Delivery Laboratory provides exciting research opportunities for undergraduates interested in gaining experience in biomaterials engineering research and drug delivery. Undergraduates are welcome to sign up for independent studies or apply for a stipend/salary to work as lab assistant under the supervision of a graduate student or postdoctoral associate. Generally we expect undergrads to work in the laboratory at defined times at least 10 hours per week. For more information, please contact Patrick Kiser.

Graduate Student Opportunities
Motivated graduate students with an interest in polymeric biomaterials research and the application of polymers in medicine are being sought for entry into the PhD program in Bioengineering. Generally we do not have research support for MS students. Suitable undergraduate backgrounds include biomedical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, and biological sciences. Once an application has been filed, interested students are encouraged to contact Professor Kiser to discuss the research opportunities available in the research group.

Postdoctoral Positions
Prior experience in one of the following research fields is highly desirable:

MATERIALS SCIENCE (polymer characterization, processing, fabrication),

MACROMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY (peptide synthesis, biological chemistry, polymer chemistry, bioconjugate chemistry),

CELL BIOLOGY (characterization of protein/cell interactions at polymer surfaces, cell and tissue culture, cell signaling pathways, molecular biology)

Excellent knowledge of English and good communication skills, as well as a track record of productive and creative scientific work, are essential. Excellent salary and benefits are provided.

How to apply for a postdoctoral position
You should create a single Microsoft Word of .pdf document that contains your full resume (contact information, date and place of birth, current citizenship and visa status in the USA (if applicable), educational background, prior positions and research experience, a one-page statement of current research interests, and names and addresses of three references. Please submit this document via e-mail to Patrick Kiser.
