The University of Utah's Department of Bioengineering in collaboration with industry offers an Industrial Co-op and Internship Program designed to provide undergraduate students with practical industry experience in addition to the their academic studies. The intern may be involved in design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, regulation as well as other appropriate activities under the supervision of a mentor. There are many benefits to employers such as lower turn-over and training costs, the opportunity for on-campus advertising, train potential long-term employees, Biomedical Engineering students are motivated, talented and top of their class, opportunity to build additional collaborative partnerships with faculty. The corporate partner is required to provide a meaningful challenging experience for the student as well as an engineering contact for the program.
