The Biomedical Engineering Industry Outreach Office promotes interactions between students, faculty and industry by facilitating co-operative (co-op) education, internships, senior projects and collaborative research. Co-op and intern programs offer extremely valuable experiences for students and a unique opportunity for industrial sponsors to identify and recruit high quality, productive engineers. The Industry Outreach Office facilitates meetings and interviews for industry with students and coordinates Bioengineering activities with the Career Services Office and the College of Engineering.
A Co-op experience generally extends the bachelors to 5 years and the student typically works eight months to one and a half years. An internship usually does not extend the time required for the bachelors degree and often consists of a single summer work experience.
Students interested in applying for a co-op or intern position should email a resume (pdf), names of 3 references, and brief letter directly to our office. Industry interested in sponsoring co-op students or interns should email appropriate contact information to our office. In addition, the Office welcomes industry submissions for undergraduate senior research/design projects, and works to facilitate collaborative research with faculty.
