Current Research

Our research aims at understanding cellular and tissue remodeling in heart disease and after cardiac therapy. We also develop microscopy-based methods to support clinical therapy of heart diseases.
We apply a combination of imaging, experimental and computational approaches to gain insights into, for instance, electrical and calcium signalling in cardiac muscle cells. Our experimental studies are focussed on the characterization of electrical and calcium signaling as well as micro-structure and protein distributions of cardiac cells and tissues. Our computational studies are based on mathematical models of cardiac microscopic and macroscopic anatomy, physiology and biophysics.
